Pax - Day 3
The next morning, Emil and Billie went to put some final touches on the booth while John and Tom went for a meeting with a mobile game publisher. The doors for
the show were set to open at 10AM sharp. We still hadn't needed to run to Home Depot for anything, we were so prepared! YAAY! From 9AM to 10AM the floor was opened for press and the illustrious Omeganauts. Our first visitors were
Tycho and Gabe It was truly an honor to have them play our game. Thanks for checking it out guys and we can't wait to see your upcoming
title as well.
Although we thought we had everything planned to the finest detail, at 10:01 the lights in the hall were dimmed and all of the booths slipped into the darkness. Now I have to say that at
Comic-Con the hall is always as bright as a convention center can be. At IGN Live the show took place in the darkness of a completely unlit convention hall. Emil had warned everyone that since it was a gaming convention the hall lights had a high probability of being dimmed; however, his constant suggestions were dismissed, if only someone had listened! So at 10:02AM John was on his way to Home Depot to figure out a solution. We decided to go with track lighting (pictured below) and they ended up working out better than we imagined. John put together the lights in the parking lot of Home Depot before he brought them back. After they were lit our booth was the brightest area in the hall.
From the moment the doors opened, to the minute they were closed at 6:00pm our booth was mobbed by gamers who wanted to get a taste of both Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers for Xbox Live Arcade.
Late Saturday afternoon John participated in a panel discussion about "What is wrong in the game industry, and how to fix it"
People would line up (pictured below) and ask a plethora of questions to the speakers, it was moderated by some guy with no hair. I'm sure he has a name, I am just choosing to not look for it.
After the show closed up for the evening, we drove into Seattle to check out the city and get some dinner. First stop was Pikes Market, the first Starbucks (not pictured, because we forgot to take pictures), dinner (same as before), and finally the Space Needle! Woohoo tourists!
We spent a lengthy amount of time at the Space Needle learning all about its history and what not. When we got downstairs to the gift shop Billie and Emil had reached their limits,as far as being an adult is concerned, so what started off as a nice looking set of gifts on display.....

Turned into..well.... this....
